World Book Day 4th March 2021

Dear Parents,

Although the majority of our children will not be in school on Thursday 4th March we are still celebrating World Book Day.

We are holding a few competitions for the week including:

- Make a prop from a well-known story and send a photo in.

- Create a story box or a book in a jar

- Design a new front cover for a book

- Take a photo of your child reading in an unusual place

- Guess the teacher from their outfit and guess the book they are reading. (This will go live on Thurs)

On your DB primary class page, a blog will have been started to find out your favourite books and recommended reads and I will be joining the zoom for all classes throughout the day.

To celebrate and encourage a lifelong love of books and reading at home and school, we will be holding a virtual Usborne Book Fair from Monday 1st March to Friday 5th March to coincide with World Book Day.  The project is being organised in partnership with Usborne Books, and every book purchased at the School Book Fair will mean more free books for our School. Usborne will also donate up to 60% of the total spend in EXTRA FREE BOOKS to the school. Please help us to enhance our reading resources for pupils by visiting the virtual Book Fair during the week.

You can access the dedicated group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1323730014680983/?ref=share

or through the website : https://usborne.com/gb/organiser/URL_nicolas-books-for-you/?organiser Code=362f7b96b5edd12e0ffeda0f3ba00f83

Payment can be made by card or Paypal and World Book Day vouchers are also accepted for £1 off any chosen book. (An electronic version of the voucher is attached to class dojo. There will be a range of fact, fiction, sticker and activity books and Jigsaws available as well as a number of special offers too so I’m sure there will be something for everyone.

We are also encouraging children to dress up as a book character for their class’s zoom meeting or if they are in school.

Happy Reading!
